I’m Maria, an artist, designer and creative. Mama of two wonderful and wild kids. Part Dutch, part Greek, now living in Munich, Germany.
Coming from a fine arts background with studies in painting, sculpture and ditital art, my journey took me from Maastricht in the Netherlands via Konstfack in Stockholm, Sweden, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, NL, for my BFA, and then to New York University, where I earned a Master of Arts degree.
I then spent many years working digitally as a designer and art director, mostly doing web design and ID for big name agencies in NYC. After a move back to Europe and the desire to combine on-screen with off-screen work, I created my one-of-a-kind indìgena jewelry that now sells online and in several boutiques across Germany.
In the past years, I have returned to drawing and painting again in a desire to work more manually, which I absolutely love! I work a lot on paper with watercolors, inks and gouache. I also enjoy working on large-scale projects like shop windows and murals! My big loves right now are children’s books illustrations and exploring surface pattern designs with lush watercolor florals!
Over the years, a large portfolio of varied artwork has come together. Floral, decorative leaves, delicate lines, a preference for certain colors and shapes all connect these pieces. And this is where it all comes together in one place, across all media I work in and on all levels of perfection, be it ongoing projects or finished pieces.
I believe in following my own path and my heart, in setting the rules that allow me to grow and thrive as an artist:
continiously learn, explore, grow, work, and share.
I’m available for commissions and freelance work and am happy to send you more information upon request.
You are very welcome to share your thoughts, give feedback or just say hello!
